DESCRIPTION:Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs help students explore career interests and gain valuable technical skills and industry certifications while still in high school. Thousands of students in Public Schools take CTE courses\, both college and workforce bound. Below are some highlights of CTE.\n\n\n\n  Credentials\n\nStudents may take state approved industry\, professional\, or trade association certification examinations or occupational competency assessments that are aligned with their CTE course.\n\n  Students earn thousands of credentials annually. E.g. Microsoft Office Specialist\, CompTIA A+ and Net+\n\n  Work-based Learning\n\nWork experience aligned with a students CTE course or area of career interest is work-based learning.\n\n  A comprehensive approach to work-based learning providing opportunities on a spectrum of\n\ncareer exploration to career preparation. Work-based learning activities are infused in the curriculum and\n\nutilized as an instructional tool or stand-alone programs and initiatives. Experiences are tailored to meet the needs of students and employers.\n\n  Middle and high school students participate in a variety of work-based learning activities through CTE\n\ncourses each school year.\n\n\n\nParticipants will generate ideas for developing their own leadership potential and meeting business needs by mentoring young talent through connections with local school divisions. \n\n\n\n \n\nPresenters: Mary Beth Echeverria\, Katie Lockhart\, Cathy Seal\, and Missy Spielman\n\n \n\n This event is being held online. \n\nThe Zoom link is included in the Registration Confirmation.
